Mango sago
Mango sago is one of my favorite desserts and it only takes 5 ingredients to make! There’s a few different ways to make it, some people combine the sago and mango all together, personally I like the look of layers so I keep them separate.
It’s also a great dessert to make for friends, I made a batch and brought them to a dinner party this weekend and they were hit! I’d definitely recommend bringing a bottle of condensed milk so everyone can just sweetness to their preference 🙂
I used:
- 5 mangos
- 1 can coconut milk
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- 1/2 cup mini tapioca pearls
- maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
- optional: condensed milk, pomelo/grapefruit
To make:
- cut + peel mangoes, saving one cubed mango for topping
- add 1/2 can coconut milk into the blender along with mangos and milk, blend until creamy
- taste and add sweetener of choice based on preference
- bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add in pearls, turn heat to medium-low and let simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking
- after 15 minutes, they should be mostly translucent (some might still have a slightly white center), turn off heat, and let sit covered for 5 minutes
- rinse tapioca with cold water using a mesh strainer/sieve and drain
- mix in the rest of can of coconut milk into the tapioca (this will also help separate them!)
- layer mango mixture and the coconut sago, top with fresh mango and pomelo if using
- chill and serve! (feel free to add more condensed milk to taste)
