sweet potatoes with kimchi-churri, and “to all the boys I’ve dated” pt. 1: the confidence to say no

you know how even when it is a mutual ghosting situation, the door isn’t fully closed? until you’re like a week out from the date and it’s like whew ok that door is closed forreal. it was refreshing getting closure immediately after that date and i was like.. why am i not giving myself that opportunity? in being more direct in what *I* wanted, i gained confidence in voicing my opinions and also gave us both closure

— i used:
2 medium sweet potatoes
1/4 cup kimchi
1 tbsp cilantro, roughly chopped
1 small clove garlic, grated
1 tsp kimchi juice
1 tsp sesame oil
garnish: kewpie mayo, scallions, roasted sesame seeds

welcome to part 4 of my series “we have brunch at home” but aallssoo works as a dessert. these buns combine take the template of a cinnamon roll and layer on the flavor profiles of tang yuan (a chinese mochi-like dumpling dessert). black sesame on the inside and a slightly salty peanut glaze on top!
